Cool. I will go ahead & purchase asap!

But the screenshot looks about right to you (whatever your monitor size & res is)?
I know "how" - I guess what I was getting at was: some way to show "scale" as it is on my screen vs. how it appears to the person viewing the screenshot on their screen. It seems difficult to convey...
I'm coming from a 19" CRT to a ZR24w 24" LCD Flat monitor. So to me, at it's 16:10 1920x1200 native res, desktop icons, various software , webpages, etc all display TOO small. Text tends to be...
btw - why aren't the onboard graphics of the 2600K adequate anyway?
How will anyone know they're buying one of the "fixed" chipsets in the future & NOT getting one w/ the flaw that was still floating around in the supply chain somewhere??
i guess this would be "the 6 month rule" in effect.....of course no one knows yet how this will pan out but any opinions on waiting a month or 2 or just pick another CPU & MoBo? i'm eager to rid...
Good thing I didn't get this system yet given the Sandy Bridge problems. Now I have to decide whether to wait & see how that "sorts out" OR switch CPU's entirely.
Great! Yeah I was thinking of perhaps overclocking sometime down the road so i may as well set up for that possiblilty.
Thanks for the advice.
Cool. I was considering more RAM & I think I will. With 4 memory slots my understanding that pairs is the key? As in (2) 4GB sticks as opposed to (4) 2GB sticks? Also wasn't sure whether to get...
Intended to just follow mysuperpc exactly but then decided to splurge on a faster cpu which then required other changes. But what I have put together on paper I think "should" work. This is my 1st...
That's a nice, succinct explanation of Raid. I haven't found the mentioned sticky in the initial post in this thread but was wondering:
for a Raid 1 set up w/ 2 HD's, do they need to be:
a.)...
Ok, I think that's the way I'll go.
[w/ Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz Quad-Core Desktop Processor & 4GB kit (2GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 memory module].
Thanks!
Actually, I think this processor (Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz Quad-Core) shows:
"Instruction Set - 64-bit"
So that may mean you have to go 64bit? Unless 32bit is still possible...
How does the The Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P motherboard the top of the class in Intel Core i7 motherboards.

I guess I'll have to do that where possible. Worst case if I went 64bit & ran into too many incompatibilities I could just start over w/ new 32bit install.
Hardware is only an older HP printer. ...
Going to do a clean install on a new build soon & am in the dilemma of going 64bit & risk some programs & printer, etc not working w/ it (use quite a bit of older programs) OR going 32 & it's memory...
If I am reading the various info on RAM modules correctly - it's better to use (4) 1GB sticks to achieve 4GB total as opposed to (2) 2GB sticks?

In that case - how bout this for a deal?

Idk what difference (if any) going from LGA 1156 to LGA 1155 makes in terms of...
This is for a "yet-to-be-built" rig. Was going to just use the exact components as laid out here but then thought about splurging a bit for a faster processor. However, I don't want to make it more...
Is it worthwhile to "upgrade" from the 2.93GHz processor

Thanks....looks good to me & a better price for me!
Any recommendations for a lower cost alternative to the eVGA Geforce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB DDR3 PCI-E for use with the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P MB?
Won't be gaming. Only some minor graphics stuff...
